ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කොවිඩ් මර්ධන ව්‍යාපෘතියට සහයෝගයක් ලෙස මෙරට නගරාශ්‍රිතව කසළ කළමනාකරණ කටයුතුවල නිරත කම්කරුවන් වෙත සෞක්‍යාරක්‍ෂණ උපකරණ හා ඇඳුම් කට්ටල ලබාදීමට ජපානයේ ජාත්‍යන්තර සහයෝගීතාව පිලිබඳ නියෝජිතායතනය හෙවත් ජයිකා (jica ) ආයතනය පියවර ගෙන ඇත .
මේ අනුව බස්නාහිර පළාතේ ඝන අපද්‍රවය කළමනාකරණ කටයුතුවල නිරත කම්කරුවන් , සේවක සේවිකාවන් වෙත බූට් සපත්තු කුට්ටම් 634ක් , මුහුණු ආවරණ 31700 ක් , සෞඛ්යාරක්ෂණ ඇඳුම් කට්ටල 430ක් සහ විෂබීජ නාශක දියර බෝතල් විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් ලබාදීමට ජයිකා ආයතනය කටයුතු කර ඇත ,
බස්නාහිර පළාත් සභාව හරහා මෙම ආධාර තොගය ලබාදී ඇති අතර මෙය ජයිකා ආයතනය විසින් මෙරට කසල කළමනාකරණ කටයුතු වල නිරත සේවක සේවිකාවන් වෙත සෞඛ්යාරක්ෂණ උපකරණ ලබාදුන් දෙවන අවස්තාවද වේ.
වසර ගණනාවක් තිස්සේ ජයිකා (JICA )ආයතනය විසින් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ඝන අපද්‍රව්‍ය කළමනාකරණය සඳහා තාක්ෂණික සහාය ලබා දී ඇති අතර වර්තමානයේ, ‘බස්නාහිර පළාතේ ඝන අපද්‍රව්‍ය කළමනාකරණ කටයුතු වලට අදාළ ප්‍රධාන සැලැස්ම සකස් කිරීමේ ව්‍යාපෘතිය’ද ජයිකා දායකත්වය යටතේ ආරම්භවී ඇත.
බටහිර පළාතේ ඝන අපද්‍රව්‍ය කළමනාකරණය සඳහා දිගුකාලීන උපායමාර්ගික සැලැස්මක් සකස් කිරීම අරමුණු කරගනිමින් රාජ්‍ය ආයතන සහ පළාත් පාලන ආයතන. හා පළාත් පාලන ආයතන සමගද ජයිකා ආයතන සහයෝගයෙන් කටයුතු කරයි .
ජයිකා ශ්‍රී ලංකා කාර්යාලයේ ප්‍රධාන නියෝජිත යමඩා ටෙට්සුයා මහතා විසින් මෙම පුද්ගල ආරක්ෂක උපකරණ (පීපීඊ) බස්නාහිර පළාත් ආණ්ඩුකාර ගරු රොෂාන් ගුණතිලක මහතා වෙත සංඛේතාත්මකව භාරදෙන ලදී
Extending JICA’s continuous support to protect solid waste management workers, currently engaged in work amidst Covid-19 and assist Sri Lanka to continue its public services to the people, JICA Sri Lanka Office, handed over Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Western Province at the Western Provincial Council with strict adherence to health guidelines and the COVID-19 preventive measures.
The grant included 634 pairs of boots, 31,700 masks, 430 Personal Protective Kits, hand sanitizers and disinfectants to be used to protect solid waste management workers in 49 local authorities engaged in work during Covid-19. This is JICA’s 2nd provision of the PPE for continuous and stable waste management, especially in consideration of the prevailing situation after April.
Over the years, JICA has been extending technical support for solid waste management in Sri Lanka. Currently, under the ‘Project for Formulation of Western Province Solid Waste Management Master Plan’, JICA is working with National Solid Waste Management Support Centre in State Ministry of Provincial Council and Local Government and Waste Management Authority in Western Province, relevant government agencies and local authorities, to formulate a long-term strategic plan for solid waste management in the Western Province. The Project also is helping Business Continuity Plan (BCP) of local authorities under emergency situations. This grant will enable local authorities to continue their essential work during the pandemic.
At the handing over, Mr. Yamada Tetsuya, Chief Representative, JICA Sri Lanka Office, handed over Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Marshal of the Air Force, Governor of the Western Province Hon. Roshan Goonetileke. Mr. Yamada stated that solid waste management is an essential service for the community. Therefore, it is vital to pay attention towards the personal hygiene of the solid waste management workers as well as assisting them in maintaining a healthy work environment to protect themselves and the entire community. JICA will work with various stakeholders and partners to overcome the pandemic and its various negative effects as quickly as possible.
